Panama City Beach passes beach, alcohol curfews for spring break 2023

Panama City Beach continues to add new rules for spring breakers.

The popular spring break destination on Thursday officially enacted a curfew for a specific section of beach, according to WJHG in Panama City.

The section of beach running from Boardwalk Beach Resort to Churchwell Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., according to that report.

“The curfew, that’s so stupid. Why would you do a curfew when everyone comes here to have fun,” WJHG quoted one spring breaker as saying.

Panama City Beach also banned the sale of alcohol from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. and outlawed the consumption of alcohol on the beach itself, among other ‘spring break laws’ the city is enforcing during March.

The new rules and enforcement are an attempt to crack down on what officials called a ‘lawless’ spring break in 2022, where some 160 people were arrested, including nearly 80 from Alabama.

These new rules, and increased enforcement of city ordinances already on the books, could mean as much as a $500 fine for offenders, or even jail time.
