Auburn care package to Darius Slayton mocked by Giants teammate Adoree Jackson

It’s the thought that counts, right?

New York Giants defensive back Adoree Jackson didn’t think so when receiver and former Auburn star Darius Slayton received a care package from the Tigers this week.

Slayton, who played on The Plains from 2016-2018, appears to have received a hat and T-shirt from his college team. A nice gesture for sure.

However, Jackson’s reaction is a reflection of Auburn’s care package compared to other school’s swag sent out each year. It has become big business, which starts trending on social media. It is also a cute little marketing gimmick for college football programs around the country.

For example, last month, Marlon Humphrey took to social media to gloat about the care package he received from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

From the looks of the video, each former Alabama player gets:

  • A hat,
  • A Crimson windbreaker
  • A knit cap
  • A quarter-zip pullover “with the old-school logo”
  • Thin hoodie to “get a little sweat in”
  • A “casual” long sleeve”
  • Shorts
  • A sweatshirt
  • A hooded sweatshirt
  • A traditional pullover

It certainly has a “feast or famine” feel to it, doesn’t it?

Auburn plays at No. 9 Ole Miss on Saturday.

If you aren’t a former player – or maybe if you are – and you need some gear, check it out here.
