After two wins in New York, Auburn basketball receives top 25 votes

Auburn men’s basketball received 28 voting points in the Week 2 AP Top 25 poll released Monday.

That would make Auburn, effectively, the No. 34 team in the country based on its spot in the “others receiving votes“ category.

Auburn went 2-0 last week with wins over Notre Dame and St. Bonaventure at the Legend’s Classic in Brooklyn, New York. Auburn won that two-day tournament.

Auburn is now 4-1 this season. Baylor, the one team to beat Auburn, is 4-0 and ranked No. 13.

Seven voters included Auburn in their ballot with Adam Cole of the Opelika-Auburn News and Steve Greenberg of the Chicago Sun Times both ranking Auburn the highest at No. 19.

Auburn has received votes in the preseason poll and in the poll each of the season’s first two weeks, but has not been ranked in any of the top 25 releases.

Auburn will host Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Neville Arena before a few days off for Thanksgiving.
