13-year-old killed in wreck that injured 3 others, including 5-year-old child, in west Alabama

A teenager was killed and three other people were wounded, including a 5-year-old child, in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in west Alabama, authorities said Thursday night.

The 13-year-old, whose identity was not publicly released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 43 near the 139-mile marker, about one mile north of Forkland, in Greene County, said Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The teen was a passenger in a 2019 Honda Accord that was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe, said King.

Three others, including the driver of the Honda, a 5-year-old passenger in the Honda and the driver of the Tahoe, were injured in the wreck and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the accident.
