Yung Bleu drops ‘Love Scars II,’ keeps Coachella ambitions in play

One thing about Yung Bleu, you never have to guess what he’s feeling.

In a Sirius XM interview about a year ago, the multitalented artist from Mobile was asked to visualize one of his goals. Among the things that came to mind was a spot on stage at one of the nation’s biggest music festivals. “I want to perform at Coachella festival,” he said. “That’s one of my goals, right there.”

That hasn’t yet come to pass. But in some corners of the internet this week, fans shared photos of a billboard purported to be on one of the roads leading to the fest taking place this week and next. “LOVE IS A LIE,” it proclaimed in big red capital letters. And under that, smaller: “But have fun at Coachella I guess … — Yung Bleu.”

Sour grapes? Look closer. It’s a promotion for “Love Scars II,” the album of material Bleu dropped Thursday night. The billboard is a sly way of getting people at the festival to think of his new music while they’re there.

And the heartfelt note that Bleu shared with fans late Thursday, shortly before releasing his new music, is anything but sour.

“Without you I am nothing. I feel nothing. Just a voided space,” he posted on Facebook and Instagram. “When I once believed I had no purpose in life you embraced me. You Gave me so so many gifts. gave me a sense of purpose. Gave me life! I love to express myself to you because you never judge me! We got our heart broke together! We healed together. I helped you, and you helped me. It’s like our souls are connected somehow. So when I say I love my fans I really do love yall. Going Through the ups, the downs. We’ve grown together. Y’all loved my voice, my family. My story. So Whether you been here since 2017 or since ‘Love Scars part 1!’ Just understand yall mean alot to me. music is definitely therapeutic. Maybe we all need a little therapy. So Here I am, again! Exposing myself again. Still here. Exposing my flaws only because you made me feel comfortable enough to do so. Here I am, helping to heal while y’all help to heal me. We all got Love Scars. #EnjoyMyPain #EnjoyMyStory here I am, unfiltered.”

“Love Scars II” can be heard on YouTube and other streaming services.
