Youth dance team storms the internet with ‘James Spann Dance’ set to Salt-N-Pepa

After years of fan dedications, ranging from memes to baked goods, Alabama’s chief meteorologist now has his very own dance.

This weekend, ABC 33/40 shared a video to their socials of an unidentified children’s dance team performing “The James Spann Dance.”

The number opens with an introduction from Spann going into ‘Whatta man,’ by female rap duo Salt-N-Pepa.

The track features other iconic phrases from Spann, like a reminder to “Respect the Polygon.”

On Facebook, the post has received over 1,000 reactions.

“I love this!” one woman wrote in the most liked comment.

“What other weather person can say a dance studio created a dance routine after them!”

“‘What’s a part of living in Alabama nobody else would understand?’” commented another.

Several other commentors praised one dancer who appeared to be performing with an orthopedic walking boot.

“I don’t know what is more impressive this dance or this girl who is dancing in the boot,” one woman wrote.

“Love it!” wrote another.

“Mad respect for the dancer with the boot, good job!”

And many people added that the performance may warrant a meeting between the two.

“That was great!” one commentor said.

“James should have them come to the studio and teach him some moves!”

While Spann hasn’t announced any plans for an upcoming visit, he did say he was “very honored.”

“Those girls have amazing talent!” he told AL.com Monday.
