An investigation is underway after a child was shot in Tarrant.

The shooting happened just after 8 pm. Monday at a home in the 1400 block of Wharton Avenue.

Police said the child has been taken to Children’s of Alabama with injuries that don’t appear to be life-threatening.

No additional information is being released at this time but police said the shooting appears to be accidental.

Police initially said the boy is 10 years old, but family members said he is 12.
