San Antonio gained a first-and-goal at the Houston 1-yard line with 5:31 to play needing a touchdown and 3-point conversion to tie the score. The Roughnecks stopped three consecutive runs for no gain before dropping running back Kalen Ballage for a 4-yard loss on the fourth-down snap to regain possession with 3:46 remaining.

A third-and-10 completion from Silvers to wide receiver Cedric Byrd helped Houston run all but the final 15 seconds off the clock.

A former Gulf Shores High School and Troy standout, Silver had touchdown passes of 7 yards to wide receiver Jontre Kirklin in the first quarter and 3 yards to Kirklin and 18 yards to Deontay Burnett in the second quarter, plus a 2-point conversion completion, as the Roughnecks built a 22-7 lead on their way to a 3-0 record.
