WWE Hall of Famer wrestler dead at age of 81

Adfa Anoa’i died Friday. He was 81 years old.

Samu Anoa’i shared the news in a post on Facebook of the WWE Hall of Famer, known as the “Wild Samoan.”

“It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of my father Afa Anoai Sr.,” The post read. “It was a peaceful transition and he was surrounded by loved ones. Please respect our privacy as we morn our father.”

Afa and his brother Sika competed as The Wild Samoans, holding a number of titles, including the WWF Tag Team Championship three times. Afa Anoa’i competed in WWF, Mid-South Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions before retiring in 1994.

The brothers were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

The news comes one week after the WWE announced pro wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan has died, months after a “devastating accident,” at the age of 74.

Earlier this week, Dennis Brent, the former executive in both WCW and WWE, died after a lengthy battle with MS at the age of 73.
