A 31-year-old man was shot and killed as he attempted to break into a Mobile residence Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of West Rachael Drive Wednesday morning on a report of a residential burglary.

Arriving at the scene, they found 31-year-old Ryan Terrell had been shot as he attempted to break in. Terrell was transported to an area hospital, but later died.

Mobile police said they continue to investigate the incident. No further details were released.
