A woman was sent to a hospital with what police described as a “life-threatening” injury from a shooting at a Mobile motel Thursday.

According to Mobile police, officers responded to the Red Roof Inn on the Interstate 65 Service Road about 1:19 p.m. Thursday after a report of a shooting.

Arriving at the scene, officers found a 28-year-old female inside one of the rooms suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital and updated information on her condition was not immediately available.

Witnesses told investigators a male subject had fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting. No other details were released.
