A woman is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond after authorities say she shot and killed her ex-husband Friday in Argo.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist Argo police investigating a domestic shooting around 10:35 a.m. Friday in the 8800 block of Gadsden Highway, the sheriff’s office said Friday evening.

Witnesses told authorities Grace Dunaway Yancey, 58, shot her 62-year-old ex-husband to death, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim was not publicly identified as of Friday evening.

Yancey was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where she is being held without bond on a charge of intentional murder.

The motive for the shooting remained under investigation as of Friday evening.
