Woman seriously injured in east Birmingham shooting

An investigation is underway after a Saturday night shooting left a woman with serious injuries.

The shooting happened at 6:46 p.m. in the 6000 block of First Avenue South. That location is in a Woodlawn neighborhood.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He said few details were available in the shooting. No one is in custody.
