Woman pulled from burning home by Birmingham firefighters, hospitalized with serious injuries

A woman was pulled from her burning Birmingham home Wednesday afternoon and hospitalized with serious injuries.

Birmingham firefighter responded about 1 p.m. to the fire in the 1800 block of St. Charles Avenue on the city’s west side. A woman was reported to be trapped inside, said Battalion Chief Tobias Jones.

Crews entered the home and brought out the victim. Jones said she is in her 60s and was taken to Princeton Hospital in critical condition.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 25 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
