Woman pleads guilty to stealing $180,000 from Alabama volunteer fire departments
A Limestone County woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $180,000 from volunteer fire departments in the county.
According to court documents, Paige Bates Crouch, 56, will serve a year in jail and three years of probation after pleading guilty to first degree theft last month.
Crouch has been ordered to repay $180,634.63 to the Limestone County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments, after her release, at $200 a month, according to court documents.
She was arrested in January. She began serving her sentence on Wednesday, according to jail records.
According to her indictment, the theft occurred sometime between January 2000 and January 2023.
