Woman killed when she crashed into parked 18-wheeler on shoulder of I-65 in Fultondale
A 27-year-old woman was killed in an Interstate 65 crash that snarled traffic for several hours Saturday.
The wreck happened at 4:45 p.m. on I-65 in Fultondale.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Gayla Joy Ingle. She was 27 and lived in Florence.
Authorities said Ingle was the driver and lone occupant of a vehicle that crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate.
Ingle was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:13 p.m.
Portions of the interstate remained closed until nearly 8 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
