Woman killed in Tuscaloosa hit-and-run

An investigation is underway after woman was killed in a Tuscaloosa hit-and-run Thursday night.

Another driver called 911 at 9:32 p.m. after he saw the woman in the roadway, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the woman’s injuries were too severe. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers identified the victim as a 58-year-old woman who lived nearby. Her name is being withheld at this time, police said.

They spoke with family members and learned that she suffers from a medical condition that could have caused her to collapse while walking, before she was struck by the vehicle, Taylor said.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is working to locate the driver who left the scene. Leaving the scene of an accident with injuries or a fatality is a Class C felony.
