Woman killed in southwest Birmingham shooting
A woman was killed in a Monday night shooting in a southwest Birmingham neighborhood.
The incident happened at 6:57 p.m. in the 1500 block of Alemeda Avenue, according to police. No additional details have been released.
The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died a short time after arriving at the hospital.
No arrests have been announced, but there are reportedly two suspects in custody.
The deadly shooting is Birmingham’s 106th homicide this year. Of those, one was an officer involved shooting by an outside law enforcement agency and eight others have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 150 homicides, including the 106 in Birmingham.
