A Pinson woman died in a crash on I-459 early Saturday morning, according to state troopers.

Serra S. Burchfield, 47, was driving a 2020 Subaru Outback that left the interstate near Amber Hills Road, according to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The vehicle struck a fence and railroad tracks, then overturned, said Brandon Bailey, a senior trooper, in the release.

The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. about two miles north of Irondale.

Burchfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the crash.
