A woman on Orange Beach Monday morning was impaled by a wind-blown beach umbrella, according to the Orange Beach Fire Department.

First responders were dispatched to an area of beach in the 2300 block of Perdido Beach Boulevard on a report of a traumatic injury.

When they arrived, rescue personnel found a woman had been impaled through her lower leg by a beach umbrella which had become dislodged in a strong gust of wind.
