Woman found slain inside Mulga home; search for suspect underway

A woman was found slain inside her Mulga home Thursday.

The discovery was made about 19:30 a.m. after family became concerned because they had not heard from the woman since at least Wednesday. The victim lived in the 200 block of Second Avenue.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Henry Irby said forced entry was made into the home and the victim was found unresponsive inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Irby said the victim appears to have been shot.

No arrests have been made. A lookout bulletin for a potential suspect was broadcast about 1:30 p.m. on area law enforcement police radios.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. Multiple grieving family members have been at the crime scene for most of the day.

The investigation is ongoing.
