A 27-year-old woman died in the Trussville City Jail Sunday night.

Her name has not yet been released pending notification of family, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said she lived in Pell City.

The woman was a Leeds Police Department inmate being housed at the Trussville City Jail, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.

Jail staff performing a routine cell check found the woman unresponsive at 11:15 p.m. Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the jail at 11:28 p.m.

Trussville police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
