Woman finds husband dead in ‘shot up’ west Birmingham home

A woman called 911 Friday afternoon after she said she found her husband shot to death inside a house at 1755 50th Street Ensley.

The woman called for police at 1:55 p.m.

She told a dispatcher she came home and found her husband shot in the head. He had been dead for at least a day before his body was found.

She told police that the house, in Birmingham’s Central Park neighborhood, was ”shot up” and money was missing.

Detectives are on the scene.

The crime scene is next to Central Park Elementary. The school let students leave out of the front of the school instead of the back as a result of the shooting.

To date, 33 people have been killed in Birmingham 2025. In all of Jefferson County, there have been 49 homicides this year.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
