Woman charged with murder sought in fatal Anniston shooting

Anniston police are seeking the public’s help with locating two individuals, one of which has been labeled “armed and dangerous” after a man was found shot to death on Skyline Drive Thursday morning.

An investigation into a homicide that occurred Thursday morning led police to develop a suspect and a person of interest. “Tanquilla LaShay Thomas (35) is wanted for the murder of Burnett. A warrant has been issued for her arrest and there is no bond set due to Aniah’s Law. Thomas is considered armed and dangerous,” a news release stated.

Police are also looking for Thomas Tramaine Cunningham, 36, and are looking to question him in reference to the crime.

Around 10:05 a.m., police say they received a call for “shots fired” around the 4300 block of Skyline Drive.

“While on their way to the call, officers were notified that several vehicles were leaving the scene at a high rate of speed,” the release states.

The release states police made contact with one of the vehicles fleeing the scene and conducted a traffic stop, where they found the body of Traveno L. Burnett, 39, of Anniston.

It was apparent that Burnett had been shot, the release states.

The release states if you have any information on the whereabouts of these individuals, contact the Anniston Police Department Investigative Division at (256) 240-4000.

Do not approach Tanquilla LaShay Thomas, police say, as she is considered armed and dangerous.

Skyline Drive is a residential street in the Saks community, running roughly parallel to Saks Road.
