Woman charged with murder in fatal Montgomery shooting

A woman was charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of another woman Sunday night in Montgomery, police said Monday.

Montgomery police and fire medics responded to the 4000 block of Troy Highway on a call of a person shot around 5:11 p.m. Sunday, said Maj. Saba Coleman.

The victim, 49-year-old Montgomery resident Natasha McDade, sustained a fatal gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police charged Kawanda McDade, 41, of Montgomery, with murder in connection with Natasha McDade’s slaying.

Coleman said she could not comment on whether Kawanda McDade and Natasha McDade are related.

Kawanda McDade is being held in the Montgomery County jail without bond.
