Woman charged with murder in DUI crash that caused seriously injured woman to have miscarriage
A Bessemer woman charged with murder death of an unborn child following a DUI traffic crash last month.
Tiffany Polk, 37, is charged with murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault and DUI.
She was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Oct. 6 and remains held.
The crash happened Friday, Sept. 22, in the 900 block of Ninth Avenue in Bessemer, according to Det. Justin Burmeister.
Polk was the driver of a vehicle that struck a second vehicle in the rear.
One of the victims in the second vehicle was seriously injured, Burmeister said, and suffered a miscarriage.
At the request of the Jefferson County Bessemer Cutoff District Attorney’s Office, an Aniah’s Law bond hearing will be held on Thursday.
