Woman charged with fatally shooting 1 man, injuring another in Prichard

A 36-year-old Mobile woman is in the Metro Jail, charged with murder and attempted murder after a Sunday shooting in Prichard which left one man dead and another with life-threatening injuries, according to Prichard police.

Officers were summoned to the scene of the shooting Sunday morning on Myers Road in the Eight Mile area.

When they arrived, they found William Jones dead from an apparent gunshot wound and a second man, Jaquel Bridges, with what Prichard police described as life-threatening injuries.

Bridges was transported to a local hospital. His condition as of Monday afternoon was not immediately available.

Police arrested Shanika Shantae Thomas of Mobile and charged her with Jones’ murder and the attempted murder of Bridges.

She remained held without bond in Mobile Metro Jail as of Monday afternoon after refusing to make her scheduled appearance in court for a bond hearing Monday morning, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office confirmed.
