A 31-year-old woman has been charged in the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of a west Birmingham apartment complex.

Jameria Henley is charged with felony murder in the July 13 killing of 33-year-old Nicholas Marquis Johnson.

According to police and court documents, Henley and Johnson were in the course of committing a burglary when Henley somehow shot Johnson.

Henley is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. that Thursday, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Monte Sano Road at the Vines at Hillside West.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said 911 first received calls of an argument. Next, Shot Spotter indicated shots fired, and finally someone called reporting a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found Johnson inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:48 p.m.

Shot Spotter registered at least 10 rounds fired.

Henley is also charged with second-degree assault in an unrelated case from May where she is accused of stabbing another woman with a bottle.
