A woman injured in a crash with an 18-wheeler in Tarrant earlier this week has now died.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Reta Faye McAlpin. She was 63 and lived in Warrior.

The wreck happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities said McAlpin was traveling northbound on Pinson Valley Parkway and trying to turn onto Pinehill road when she collided with a southbound 18-wheeler.

McAlpin was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6:11 p.m. Thursday.

Tarrant police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
