Woman, 55, killed in Fairfield house fire
A woman was killed when fire swept through a Fairfield home Thursday night.
Firefighters from Fairfield and Birmingham responded at 10:55 p.m. to the residence in the 4900 block of Lloyd Noland Parkway.
Once the fire was extinguished, the victim was found inside. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 1 a.m.
Her name is being withheld pending notification of her family, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said she was a 55-year-old white female who lived in Bessemer.
The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
