A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 2:43 a.m. valid for Friday between midnight and 3 p.m. for Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Elmore and Lee counties.

The weather service says, “Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.”

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning commute. Any lingering moisture will likely refreeze Friday evening through early Saturday morning,” explains the weather service. “Slow down and use caution while traveling. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.”
