Like many of the people who’ll attend Winter Jam, the contemporary Christian omnibus tour that returns to Mobile on Jan. 14, Jeremy Camp and Andrew Bergthold know what to expect. But that doesn’t mean they’re taking it for granted, or that they expect anyone else to.

“I think there’s definitely more of an appreciation,” Camp said of worship concerts in the wake of the great COVID shutdown. “There’s more of an excitement when we play, there’s more interaction as well. I think when you’re shut down and can’t do anything for almost two years … I think that people are just so grateful. I think the appreciation of not taking for granted the opportunity, people are starting to get that, and they’re stepping into these concerts going, ‘I’m not going to take for granted the fact we can be here tonight.’ That’s one of the things I’m sensing from people, for sure.”

Camp is a contemporary Christian mainstay whose career stretches back to 2000. Highlights include half a dozen Dove Awards and numerous No. 1 Christian singles over the course of more than a dozen albums. His best-known songs include “Take You Back,” “I Still Believe,” “There Will Be a Day” and “This Way.” Bergthold is a member of We The Kingdom, a group that broke through with the single “Holy Water” in 2019 and was preparing for the release of its first full album when the pandemic hit in 2020. More recently the group released its self-titled sophomore album.

Both have experience from previous Jam tours. This time around they top a lineup that includes Andy Mineo, Anne Wilson, Disciple, Austin French, tour founders Newsong and speaker Zane Black, along with “prejam” entertainers Thrive Worship, Sean Be and the duo Renee.
