Will Morgan Wallen’s Alabama music festival return? What the country music star said about coming back
Following the first ever Sand in my Boots music festival this past weekend in Gulf Shores, many fans are wondering if they should be keeping their eye out for next year’s tickets.
“Me and a couple of my closest friends and teammates, we’ve been throwing the idea of doing a festival around for a long time now, and we just happened to run into the right partner and the right people to work with,” Wallen told crowds at his closing performance Sunday night.
“And with a lot of hard work and a lot of really great artists to come out here, man, we got to make that happen.”
He went on to say he’d “heard nothing but great reports” about the weekend and added, somewhat ambiguously, that he and his team would “try to do it again sometime.”
Organizers originally presented Sand in My Boots as a one-year takeover of the Hangout Fest.
But long before the gates even opened, the newcomer had quickly usurped its predecessor’s success, selling out just two hours after general admissions tickets opened up.
Before either one can return, organizers and Gulf Shores city leaders will have to come to terms on a new franchise agreement, as the old one expired with this year’s event, according to reports from AL.com’s Lawrence Specker.
Efforts to reach representatives for Hangout Fest were not immediately successful.
