Will mail run today (Saturday, Dec. 30)? Is the post office open?
We’re approaching the end of 2023 but the show – at least for the U.S. Postal Service – must go on.
It will be business as usual for the U.S. Post Office on Saturday, Dec. 30. This means post offices will be open and mail will be delivered. Blue boxes will be serviced on regular schedules.
Customers are advised to check with their local post office to make sure there are no schedule changes.
New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) is on a Sunday this year, a day when post offices are regularly closed and mail isn’t delivered. USPS will remain closed on Jan. 1 for the New Years Day federal holiday and no mail will be delivered. All retail services will be on hold that day, as will collection of blue boxes, except for Priority Mail Express which is delivered 365 days a year in select locations for an additional fee.
Customers who are unable to mail items before the scheduled collection box pickup times Dec. 30 should use the postal locator at tools.usps.com to find Post Office locations that may be open late.
The post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
