Will it hit 90 degrees in Alabama today?
Another warm May day is in the forecast for Alabama for Thursday. It could end up being the warmest of the week.
The National Weather Service is forecasting highs to reach the mid- to upper 80s statewide, and there’s a chance some spots could cross that 90-degree threshold.
At least one Alabama city hit the mark on Wednesday. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Fla., reported that Dothan in southeast Alabama had a high temperature of 90 degrees on Wednesday.
Other Alabama cities came close, according to the weather service.
Here are Wednesday’s highs from around the state:
Anniston: 85 degrees
Birmingham: 86 degrees
Huntsville: 87 degrees
Mobile: 88 degrees
Montgomery: 89 degrees
Muscle Shoals: 86 degrees
Troy: 88 degrees
Tuscaloosa: 88 degrees
Today could be a bit warmer across the state, according to weather service forecasts. Highs this afternoon will top out in the mid- to upper 80s once again (see the forecast map at the top of this post).
No severe weather is expected through the next seven days for Alabama, but isolated summer-like showers and storms could be possible this afternoon.
There will be better chances for rain and storms in Alabama on both Friday and Saturday, according to forecasters.
And those showers could help keep temperatures a bit “cooler” than they are expected to be today.
Highs on Friday will be in the upper 70s in north Alabama, and the low to mid-80s in central and southwest Alabama. The hot spot is expected to be southeast Alabama, which could end up in the upper 80s again.

A better chance for clouds and showers could help keep temperatures a bit lower on Friday in northern Alabama.NWS
Saturday could be a degree or two warmer in north Alabama but a degree or two “cooler” in parts of southeast Alabama:

Temperatures are expected to remain warm to hot into next week, when more 90-degree highs will be possible, according to the weather service.
