Will Auburn baseball be a top 8 seed? Here’s what the bracketologists say
Auburn baseball is out of chances to improve its resume going into the NCAA tournament.
The Tigers lost their SEC tournament opener to Texas A&M, limiting their stay in Hoover to one game. With Selection Monday less than a week away, Auburn can only hope it has done enough to earn a top eight national seed, something that was already being debated by some going into the SEC tournament.
Baseball America and D1Baseball are the two most prominent sites for bracketology, and both released bracket projections on Friday, following Auburn’s loss to Texas A&M.
Here’s where the Tigers stand in each:
Seed: No. 7
Other teams in region: Wake Forest (2), Xavier (3), Oral Roberts (4)
Baseball America’s projections pair the Auburn regional with the Tallahassee regional, hosted by No. 10 overall seed Florida State. The other teams in the projected Tallahassee regional include No. 2 seed Alabama, No. 3 seed Oklahoma State and No. 4 seed Bethune-Cookman.
Seed: No. 7
Other teams in region: Duke (2), Troy (3), Long Island (4)
D1Baseball’s projections pair the Auburn regional with the Conway regional, hosted by No. 10 overall seed Coastal Carolina. The other teams in the projected Conway regional include No. 2 seed NC State, No. 3 seed Kentucky and No. 4 seed USC Upstate.
