Will Alabama football’s Kadyn Proctor play in ReliaQuest Bowl? Kalen DeBoer shares injury update

Alabama football will likely have its left tackle for the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan. Kadyn Proctor, who has reportedly been battling through an injury with the potential to miss the game, is expected to be on the field Tuesday.

UA head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked about Proctor’s status on Monday during the game’s coaches press conference.

“We’re expecting him to play,” DeBoer said.

The sophomore did not participate during observation periods of Friday’s practice in Tampa, instead spending the time riding a stationary bike. However, he was back fully participating during the three periods reporters were allowed to watch on Saturday, and was not wearing a black jersey signifying a non-contact participant in practice.

Proctor battled injuries early in the 2024 season. He was hurt during pregame warmups ahead of the season-opener against Western Kentucky, and missed that game, along with the next week’s matchup with South Florida.

He returned to the lineup against Wisconsin and has played every game since. During his absence, Alabama filled his spot, first with a combination of Wilkin Forby and Elijah Pritchett, who is the Tide’s regular right tackle.

Right guard Tyler Booker moved outside as well for the South Florida game. He played tackle in high school.

Proctor’s 2024 season came after an offseason in which he briefly transferred to Iowa. Proctor reentered the transfer portal and returned to Alabama, after taking over as the Tide’s starting left tackle as a true freshman in 2023.

Alabama and Michigan are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT Tuesday at Raymond James Stadium. The game will be aired on ESPN.
