Widow of Steve Perkins among 3 arrested in Decatur police shooting protest
The widow of Steve Perkins, the man shot and killed in September by a Decatur officer, was among three people arrested Friday night during protests of the police shooting.
Catrela Perkins was arrested and then released, reported WAFF.
Also arrested was Derek Taylor, whose wife Sierra Taylor, says she was been beaten by Decatur police during a previous protest outside of the home of Mayor Tab Bowling. A third protester arrested was not identified.
The family of Perkins is suing the city and four police officers who were involved in the shooting.
The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in December, names officers Bailey Marquette, Christopher Mukkadam, Joey Williams, and Vance Summers. The lawsuit says Marquette fired multiple rounds and killed Perkins outside his home in southwest Decatur on Sept. 29.
