Why LT Overton has missed practice recently

Alabama football has been without LT Overton to start preseason camp practices.

Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack explained Thursday that Overton hasn’t been feeling well.

“I think he’ll be back in a day or two,” Wommack said.

The Crimson Tide began preseason practices on Wednesday and then held the second practice on Thursday under new coach Kalen DeBoer. Practices will continue this weekend.

Overton is a new addition for Alabama this offseason, having transferred from Texas A&M. Overton is expected to compete for snaps at the Bandit position in Wommack’s defense; Bandit is essentially a defensive end/edge rusher hybrid. Jah-Marien Latham figures to be another top snap recipient at that spot.

Overton saw time in 23 games during his first two collegiate seasons at Texas A&M. He started four of those games for the Aggies. Overton was a five-star prospect in high school.
