Who should be the AL.com Volleyball State Player of the Week for Week 2?
There were several options available after some great volleyball performances from across the state from last week with seven seniors, two juniors and a pair of sophomores on the list.
Check out these nominees, in alphabetical order, chosen based on information provided by coaches and statisticians and vote for your favorite.
Voting will end Thursday at 5 p.m. and results will be posted on Fridays during the season.
The Week 2 nominees:
RayAnna Ausley, Geneva: The senior outside hitter finished the week with 56 kills and 75 digs as the Panthers ran their record to 12-0 on the year with a 7-0 week and a Charles Henderson Trojans Classic title.
Millie Burgess, Vestavia Hills: Burgess, a junior outside hitter, led the Rebels’ attack with 45 kills, 21 digs and four aces. Vestavia Hills won a pair of regular-season matches last week over Tuscaloosa County and Oak Mountain.
Malaina Cloud, New Hope: The senior setter had 115 assists, 32 kills, 84 digs and 22 aces as the Indians went 4-5 on the week, 3-1 in the Boaz All Aboard Invitational.
Kylee Hester, Pelham: The senior setter had 153 assists, 38 digs, 15 kills and three blocks as the Panthers (11-5) went 5-2 last week.
Ella Lomax, Daphne: The junior outside hitter recorded 36 kills, 20 digs and four aces with a .315 hitting percentage as the Trojans improved to 8-1 on the season with three victories last week.
Maggie Marsh, Austin: The sophomore had 153 assists, 24 kills, 38 digs and 12 aces as the Black Bears went 6-3 last week.
Zaria Rudolph, Montgomery Catholic: The sophomore finished with 30 kills, 29 digs, eight blocks and four aces as the top-ranked Knights went 3-1 on the week.
Sophia Saxon, Saraland: The senior setter had 143 assists as the Spartans went 7-2 on the week. She now has 2,078 assists in her career.
Kennedy Vaughn, Bob Jones: The senior outside hitter had 85 kills, eight aces, 40 digs, three blocks and five assists for the Patriots, who won their bracket in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Gainesville, Fla.
Addi Vinson, Montgomery Academy: The senior pushed her career total in assists to 4,153 with last week’s effort. She had 137 assists, 39 digs, seven kills, seven blocks and four aces as the top-ranked Eagles won its Mac Attack tournament.
Samantha Wakefield, Donoho: Wakefield continued to pile up big numbers for the Falcons. The senior had 66 kills, 74 digs and 16 aces in seven matches for Donoho. She has 621 career kills, 1,931 digs and 2,352 assists.
