Who killed Mondrelle Kellogg? 2020 shooting death in south Birmingham remains unsolved
It’s been more than three years since a double shooting on Birmingham’s Center Street South left a man dead and a woman injured, and still no arrests have been made.
Police are asking for the public’s help in the killing of 25-year-old Mondrelle Kellogg.
It was about 5:30 p.m. that Tuesday – Oct. 27, 2020 – that South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Center Street South on a call of a person shot. The city’s gunfire detection system, Shot Spotter, also indicated several rounds fired in that area.
When police arrived, they found Kellogg unresponsive on the ground in front of his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A woman was also on the ground. She, too, had been shot but survived.
Investigators said Kellogg drove to that location, got out of his car, and exchanged words with an unknown person. As he walked back to his car, he was shot by another unknown person.
The shooter or shooters fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
