The Week 7 Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week is the first repeat winner of the 2023 season.
Millry quarterback Daylon Edmunds got 54 percent of the 17,176 votes cast in the poll after finishing with 293 yards passing and 98 yards on the ground in a 57-0 win at Washington County. Edmunds threw four touchdown passes and averaged 9.8 yards per carry in the win for the fourth-ranked Class 1A Wildcats.
Edmunds, a 6-foot, 185-pound junior, was also the Week 3 poll winner.
McGill-Toolen freshman Ladarien Miller finished second in the Week 7 balloting. Miller ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-23 win at Baldwin County.
Cooper Searcy of Faith Academy was third in the voting after registering nine solo tackles, two assists, two tackles for loss and two sacks in a 21-13 upset win over then Class 5A No. 7 Vigor.
Voting for Cunningham Bounds Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.
In Week 7, more than 57,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
