Who is Week 1 Cunningham Bounds Coastal player of the week?
More than 16,000 fans voted in the Week 1 Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week poll and Faith Academy quarterback Jarrett Daughtry earned the honors with 23 percent of the total.
Daughtry, a senior for the Rams, completed 15-of-20 passes for 199 yards and five touchdowns in a 43-24 win over J.A.G. – formerly known as Jeff Davis of Montgomery.
The QB received 3,851 of 16,608 votes cast in the poll.
Jax Filmore of Flomaton finished second in the voting with 2,746 ballots cast – 17 percent. Filmore ran for 344 yards and five scores on 32 attempts as the Hurricanes beat Northview, Fla., 35-14.
Kolin Wilson of Gulf Shores was third in the balloting. The Mobile Christian transfer ran for 244 yards on just eight carries in his debut with the Dolphins. Wilson scored three touchdowns, including a 99-yard burst that is the longest in Gulf Shores history. He also had a 79-yard run as Gulf Shores beat St. Michael 41-20.
Voting for Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.
More than 39,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
