Who is the Week 7 Hollis Wright Birmingham Player of the Week?
The Hollis Wright Birmingham area Football Player of the Week got 54 percent of the 5,697 votes cast in the Week 7 poll.
Kolby Hearn, a 5-foot-10, 161-pound senior wide receiver at Thompson, caught five passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors’ 40-14 win over then-No. 6 Hewitt-Trussville last week to earn top honors.
Hearn is the first Thompson player to finish atop the poll this season.
Fluff Bothwell, who accounted for 427 total yards and had 17 tackles for Oneonta last week, was second in the voting. The senior had 24 carries for 265 yards and four touchdowns, caught four passes for 122 yards with three TDs and completed his only pas for a 40-yard score in a 62-36 win at Etowah.
Pinson Valley’s Dylan Reese was third in the balloting after completing all eight of his pass attempts for 177 yards and five touchdowns in a 61-0 win at Huffman.
Voting for Hollis Wright Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.
In Week 7, more than 57,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
