Who is the Week 6 Huntsville Player of the Week?

Jacobi Edmonson of unbeaten Scottsboro was a runaway winner in the Week 6 Huntsville Player of the Week poll, the second of the year for the team.

Edmonson, a sophomore fullback, ran for 216 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a 56-21 win over Priceville. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder joins Class 5A No. 10 Scottsboro quarterback Jake Jones as a player of the week for the 2023 season. Jones was the Week 1 winner.

Edmonson got 64 percent of the votes – 2,866 – in the poll.

Huntsville quarterback Jacks McClung finished second in the balloting after leading the Panthers to a 53-25 win over Mae Jemison. McClung completed 13-of-21 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns.

Pisgah’s Mason Holcomb finished third in the vote. The 5-0 Eagles beat Sylvania 40-34 as Holcomb completed 11-of-21 throws for 239 yards and four scores and hit a 2-point conversion pass. Holcomb also had an interception on defense in the win.

Voting for Huntsville Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.

In Week 5, more than 41,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
