Who is Republicans’ favorite politician? Donald Trump won’t like these poll results

Donald Trump’s advisors may want to keep the president’s eyes away from the results of this poll.

While Trump is hugely popular among Republicans, he’s not the most well-liked political figure among voters from his party, according to a YouGov/Economist poll released Friday that polled Americans on 120 political figures.

Trump has a net favorability rating of +76 among Republicans, tied for second place with his oldest son, Donald Trump, Jr.

Another Republican has an even larger margin.

Vice President JD Vance topped the poll with a +78 favorability rating among Republicans, the poll found.

Vance bested the president among conservative Republicans (+77 vs. +70), Republicans 44 years old and younger (+76 vs. +73), Republicans 45 years old and older (+79 vs. +77), men (+88 vs. +77), Republicans without a college degree (+79 vs. +78) and Republicans with a college degree (+75 vs. +71.)

Trump did better than Vance in only one demographic: women (+74 for Trump vs. +68 for Vance.)

Eight Republican figures who have been outspoken against Trump have net negative favorability among members of their own party: Liz Cheney (-33), McConnell (-26), Dick Cheney (-22), Christie (-18), Mitt Romney (-13), Lisa Murkowski (-4), Adam Kinzinger (-3), and Susan Collins (-1).

Pence, who is among the most well-known Republicans, has a net favorability of 0 among members of his party. Liz Cheney and Kinzinger are the only figures who are significantly more well-liked by members of the opposing party than within their own, the poll found, while Murkowski and Romney are rated about equally by members of both parties.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama was the most well-liked political figure among all Americans of the 120 figures named in the poll, with a +22 net favorability rating.

Only two other figures known by at least 88% of respondents were in positive territory among all Americans: independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (+12) and ex-President George W. Bush (+3.)
