Who did Lee Corso, Nick Saban pick for Alabama-LSU on College GameDay?

ESPN’s College GameDay was live from Baton Rouge on Saturday, meaning conversation about Alabama at LSU dominated much of the on-set conversation.

That was obviously true of the show-ending picks segment, which featured LSU alums Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne. Host Rece Davis introduced the Alabama-LSU picks in dramatic fashion.

“And now the game they’re all waiting for here,” Davis said. “We’ve broken it down every way you can. This rivalry is a bus-rocking, bird-flipping, Hat-eating-grass, make-their-ass-quit, jambalaya of passion on a Saturday night in Death Valley with Alabama and LSU.”

The full panel made their picks to end the show, which went as follows:

Desmond Howard — LSU

Nick Saban — Alabama

Pat McAfee — LSU

Paul Skenes — LSU

Livvy Dunne — LSU

Lee Corso — LSU

Saban admitted he was conflicted, noting that he’d coached at both schools. But in the end, he went with the Crimson Tide.

“This the most difficult thing for me because (of) getting a very welcome homecoming back here at LSU, having won a championship at LSU,” Saban said. “But the biggest difference to me is, I can’t really get go against all the players that we recruited that are still playing at Alabama. So I gotta go Alabama.”

As he is wont to do, Corso used a little bit of misdirection in making his pick. He first asked the GameDay production crew to play his “favorite song,” and “Sweet Home Alabama” rang out across the set before Corso stopped them.

“The Tigers have won 14 straight at night at home, it will be 15,” Corso said, before the LSU fight song began playing and Corso put on the LSU mascot head.
