While he hasnât been nice to me lately, I still like Alcaraz to win at Wimbledon
The biggest setback of this make-believe gambling experiment has come from my belief that young tennis star Carlos Alcaraz would beat Novak Djokovic then go on to win the French Open.
Alcaraz may have well been on his way to doing just that before suffering cramps throughout his body that left him unable to compete against Djokovic in the semifinals.
With Wimbledon set to begin Monday, I am reminded of the words of William Ernest Henley in his poem Invictus:
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
