Which games will impact Alabama’s College Football Playoff chances this week?

Alabama football needs to win out to make the College Football Playoff. That’s the most important thing for the Crimson Tide, which faces Chattanooga at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday before a road trip to Auburn and the SEC championship game against Georgia in Atlanta.

But to make the CFP, the Tide will also need a bit of help. UA is currently ranked No. 8 nationally, and will have to see a few teams lose to jump into the top four.

Ahead of Saturday’s slate, here are the games that could help Alabama move up the board before the season ends.

Georgia @ Tennessee

The Volunteers have regressed somewhat this season, while the Bulldogs took over the No. 1 spot in the CFP rankings last week. Still, even if UT can’t win the game, keeping it close would help the Tide’s victory on the Third Saturday in October look even better to the selection committee.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.

Ohio State vs. Minnesota

A week after slipping one spot in the rankings despite winning, No. 2 Ohio State faces a Minnesota team that hasn’t given the top of its league much of a fight. The Gophers are 5-5 overall, 3-4 in Big Ten play, including a 52-10 drubbing by Michigan.

The Buckeyes game is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT in Columbus. It will be aired on the Big Ten Network.

Michigan @ Maryland

The No. 3 Wolverines will be without head coach Jim Harbaugh once again as the result of their recent sign-stealing scandal. That wasn’t much of an issue last week, and it might not be one again vs. a Maryland team that didn’t come close against Penn State or Ohio State.

Maryland and Michigan are set to kick off at 11 a.m. CT Saturday. The game will be aired on Fox.

Florida State vs. North Alabama

After a close game against rival Miami last week, the No. 4 Seminoles have what equates to a week off against UNA. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The game will be broadcast on The CW.

Washington @ Oregon State

The No. 5 Huskies have perhaps the toughest matchup of any team ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide. Washington, one of the schools leaving the Pac-12 after the season, faces a tough No. 11 Oregon State squad, one of the two remaining in the remnants of the league.

The game will be aired on ABC at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Oregon @ Arizona State

The first of two one-loss teams ahead of Alabama faces an 3-7 Arizona State squad on Saturday. The No. 6 Ducks are scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. CT Saturday.

The game will be broadcast on Fox.

Texas @ Iowa State

The lone team to beat Alabama, the No. 7 Longhorns, has its starting quarterback back. However, running back Jonathan Brooks will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Texas and Iowa State are set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be shown on Fox.
