Which former HS stars should have made AL.com’s list of the state’s great wide receivers?
Former Auburn great Terry Beasley was the most common name mentioned by readers in reaction to AL.com’s list of the greatest Alabama high school wide receivers of all-time last week.
AL.com named two-time Mr. Football Ryan Williams as its top receiver, topping the list of nine. The other receivers who made the list were, in order, Henry Ruggs, Julio Jones, Ozzie Newsome, DeAndre Green, Chad Jackson, Brandon Greer, Mardye McDole and Terrell Zachery.

Beasley did not make the AL.com list, which is based solely on high school accomplishments. Already an Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Beasley was an All-State pick as a senior in 1967 out of Lee-Montgomery. He also made the Super All-State team that season.
He played just two years of varsity football, according to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society, but was captain of his team.
